3 Steps to get rid of depression

Nowadays, we can certainly say that Depression is the disease of the 21st century and for how long is here to stay is the uncertainty that we all live day by day...

Nonetheless, we have to focus on it's more important... and the most important thing is to get out of such feelings as feeling depressed, sad, helpless and hopeless that sometimes can be mixture with anger, fear, anxiety, despair, guilt, apathy and/or grief.

So, how can we get rid of such feelings that many people would describe as typical "sadness"?

I'll answering the question by giving you 3 steps that you shall have to follow if you really and truly want to succeed this illness.

1st.

Have conscious and courage to ask and confront yourself

"Something is wrong with me, I'm not feeling well and I don't no why but I can't continue like this!"

2nd.

After confronting yourself, you have all you need to...

Have the will to get out of those feelings that make you feel very sad.

3rd.

So, what do I do?

Seek help from a mental health professional

Psychiatrists can help you by prescribing the appropriate antidepressant medication, but only if necessary and it's not enough!

Psychologists and Neuropsychologists can help you through talk therapy by helping you:

- To establish a clear understanding of what made you depressed (your job, your carrer, a close friend, your family,...);

- To be happy! Sometimes, there are somethings about your life that clearly needs to change, so do what you need to do to become happy;

- To gain some perspectives by doing things that you like most (painting, travelling, ...) or doing things that you've always wish to do (go back to school, ...), do some physical exercise, socialize with your friends and family, help out in the comunity. Feel free to do what ever you want to do and can do!

However, to get the most out of talk therapy you need to find a therapist that you like, and above all that you can trust, and work with him/her over a long period of time. It doesn't have to be years, it can take only a few months, but don't expect that serious depression will evaporate without some consistent work on your part!

  1. Dear Dr. Rudford,

    First, thank you for taking the time to write.

    However, I would like to clarify the following:

    1.
    "It is not true that the old men and women are more susceptible to depression"

    If you've read the article before posting this kind of nonsense, you would realize that I didn't mentioned that any specific population is more susceptible to depression.

    2.
    "... and it must be mentioned that an individual is said to suffer from depression when he exhibits symptoms, namely, hopelessness, chronic tiredness, ..."

    Once again, I invite you to read my article because you'll find that I've mentioned several depression related symptoms.

    3.
    "Therefore, it is important for you to get hold of right information on depression related details before starting to treat your depression.

    The results that my patients have and the feedback that I receive from the blog are the evidence of my work's efficiency and success.

    If you have any additional questions feel free to ask them.
